A Bazaar Art Throwdown art competition will happen at the Art Bazaar and Market in Clearwater Beach on July 15.

Never Too Many: Market Round Up
It’s interesting to watch the trends in retail change, and there’s no doubt indie markets are having a moment. Whether tried and true or all brand new, these markets each have something different to offer.

Shop under the shady trees at Williams Park in St. Petersburg on Saturday for the Saturday Morning Market, in its summer location. You’ll see the same quality of fresh produce, food, vendors and entertainment that you’ve come to expect at Al Lang Stadium, only with respite from the blazing sun. 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Fourth Street and First Avenue N.

Clearwater Beach is getting in on the market action with the Art Bazaar and Market, pictured, on Saturday. This market boasts art, a farmers market and vendors just for kids. But the main event is the Bazaar Art Throwdown, a competition between three area artists for cash prizes. 3 p.m. McKay Park, across from co-host Beach Fire Beach Bar and Grill, 608 Mandalay Ave. …

It feels like more and more people are getting into fitness. If it’s true, that’s a good thing. Either way, wearing good shoes is key, but that usually comes with a hefty price tag. Enter Fit2Run’s tent sale this weekend. The St. Petersburg location of “the runner’s superstore” will have great deals on all the running essentials outside their store Friday through Tuesday. Gray Space is a new men's boutique in downtown St. Petersburg.

Filling the Void: Gray Space
For all the locally owned specialty shops and boutiques downtown St. Pete has to offer, there has been a serious lack of men’s goods. Until now. Gray Space is a new men’s boutique in the up-and-coming Fringe District, offering “post 9-5” and athleisure wear for men. Husband and wife owners Jamie and Gordon Hall started the business because they recognized the need for a place for men could shop and be shopped for. They started out as a pop-up and at indie markets, gained a following, found their space at 189 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N and opened in April.
The clothing is very casual, yet stylish enough to blend in at a swanky brunch spot. The carry brands from Florida, including Winter Park’s Duvin, and West Coast brands Alo Yoga and Kinetix. They also have caps, fun socks and men’s skin care, including Organic Beard Supply, a local brand. The Halls plan to expand their gift and novelty items, like a breath spray I found that supposedly enables you to “understand your mother completely.”
Gray Space is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. grayspacefl.com.
Gray Space also continues to pop up at indie markets, including Saturday at Mastry’s Brewing Co. on St. Pete Beach (7701 Blind Pass Road). There’s a day market from noon to 3 p.m., an evening market from 6-10 p.m. and a fashion show at 7 p.m., which Gray Space is showing in. …

A tattoo by Edward Best, one of the featured artists at the Ink Mania tattoo convention at the Coliseum June 9-11.

Art on Your Sleeve: Ink Mania
I’m of an age where I can remember a time when tattoos were rare, or least less common, and edgy. Now, of course, it seems more rare not to have at least one tattoo. And why not? They’re artistic, often beautiful forms of self expression and personal adornment. And there will be a whole lot of them at the Ink Mania tattoo convention this weekend at St. Petersburg’s Coliseum. You can get inked by a number of award-winning tattoo artists from around the world, get a body piercing, attend seminars and enter a tattoo contest. Enter your motorcycle in their Ink and Pistons Bike Show, or just admire them. There’s an art fusion wall and a graffiti contest, as well as a pin-up pageant. The family-friendly expo features specialty vendors, live entertainment and a DJ battle. There’s also an online art auction. Of course, there will be beer and food trucks. Proceeds help benefit children with autism. Admission is $25 for a single-day ticket, $48 for two days or $60 for three. It runs from 2-11 p.m. Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. 535 Fourth Ave. N. inkmaniaexpo.com. …

Head to downtown St. Pete and check out the 600 Block's newest addition, a bar/boutique combo aptly named Bartique.

New Shop Alert: Bartique
Strolling down the 600 block of St. Pete’s Central Avenue one day, I noticed a new spot on the corner: Bartique. Is it a boutique with a bar? That’s too good to be true, I thought. But it wasn’t. When I walked in, I was greeted by a bar stocked with wine and beer from local breweries, including Big Storm and Cigar City. Beyond the bar, you see a sweet boutique with fashions for men and women. The shop also features local makers, including distressed vintage denim by Blue Monday Denim. Dogs are also welcome; in fact, Bartique is having a Mutts and Mimosas party Saturday to benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. They’re selling dog bandanas and will have adoptable dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 648 Central Ave.,
