Deondre Francois out 4-7 months, James Blackman is FSU's new starter
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed Monday that quarterback Deondre Francois will miss the season with a torn patella tendon.
Francois is scheduled to have surgery to repair the injury tomorrow. The timetable for recovery is typically 4-7 months, which means Francois might be able to return in time for spring practice.
As expected, Fisher also said true freshman James Blackman will be the starter Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.
Blackman will be the first true freshman to start for Fisher since he was an assistant at Auburn.
Fisher said FSU doesn't plan to change anything significantly with Francois out.
