Marc Topkin's takeaways from Wednesday's Rays-Yankees game

RHP Chris Archer says, and the Rays agree, he is healthy, just not pitching well. As much as Archer prides himself on being a workhorse, you wonder — especially if they continue to drop out of the race — if they won't consider shutting him down for the season.

CF Kevin Kiermaier, who hit his career-high 13th homer, has made a pretty good case to make a permanent home atop the order, hitting .327 with six homers and 16 RBIs in 24 games since coming off the disabled list and going into the leadoff spot.

Apart from booing the home team, which New Yorkers do anyway at times, playing in an obviously not neutral site worked out well. The Mets couldn't have been more accommodating to the Rays, and fans having a rooting interest added energy to what could've been a mundane scene.
