Hitchcock thriller kicks off season at Stage West

Stage West Community Playhouse begins its 2017-18 season with Alfred Hitchcock's spy thriller, The 39 Steps, which opens Sept. 7 and continues with weekend performances through Sept. 17 on the Forum stage at the theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. The Hitchcock classic follows the adventures of the handsome hero, Richard Hannay, as he encounters beautiful women, heinous murders and double-crossing secret agents. Adapted by Patrick Barlow and produced with special arrangements by Samuel French, the comedy thriller features four actors in a fast-pace, fun show. The director is Saul Liebner. The cast includes Mark Burdette as Richard Hannay; Jeanne MacLean as Annabella Schmidt, Pamela and Margaret; Anthony Agnelli as Clown 1, and Kathy Capelle as Clown 2. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7-9 and 15-16, with 2 p.m. matinees on Sept. 10, 16 and 17. Doors open a half-hour before curtain. Tickets are $20; $15 for students.
